Self-Foaming, Alkaline Cleaner
* Purpose
LAC 171 is a concentrated, self-foaming general purpose cleaner formulated to remove a wide variety of soils such as grease, oil, protein, and other organic soils from all surfaces.
* Typical Applications
LAC 171 is recommended for use in meat and poultry slaughter, processing, and packaging facilities. LAC 171 is an effective foam cleaner for smokehouses, trees, racks, kettles, and other equipment. LAC 171 is safe for use in contact with steel, stainless steel, copper, as well as tile, brick, porcelain, and plastic surfaces.

* Properties
LAC 171 is an amber, slightly viscous liquid, containing alkaline builders, water conditioners, and biodegradable surfactants. The Specific Gravity of this product is 1.18 (9.8 lbs./gallon).
* Use Directions
LAC 171 is normally used at 2 oz./gallon of water with a hardness of 15 gpg (275 ppm as CaCO3). Dilutions vary depending on method of application, nature and amount of soil, temperature and hardness of water. LAC 171 may be mixed with chlorine, such as CSS -12, to provide more effective protein removal.

Available in 55 gallon plastic drums and more economical bulk quantities.

LAC 171 is authorized by the USDA for use under category code letter A1:
Compounds for use as general cleaning agents on all surfaces, or for
use with steam or mechanical cleaning devices in all departments.

DANGER:
CAUSES SEVERE BURNS. MAY BE FATAL IF SWALLOWED. HARMFUL IF INHALED.
Contains sodium hydroxide. Do not get in eyes, on skin, on clothing. Avoid breathing dust or mist. Keep container closed. Use with adequate ventilation. Wash thoroughly after handling.
PRECAUTION: When handling, wear goggles or face shield and rubber gloves. While making solutions, add slowly to surface of solution to avoid violent spattering.
This product reacts with reducing sugars from food soils during cleaning to form hazardous carbon monoxide. Before entering enclosed or semi-enclosed areas, test and moniter for carbon monoxide. Exposure to carbon monoxide may be fatal.

FIRST AID: CALL A PHYSICIAN IMMEDIATELY.
In case of contact, immediately flush eyes or skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse, discard contaminated shoes. If swallowed, dilute by drinking large quantities of water or milk. DO NOT induce vomiting. If inhaled, remove to fresh air; if not breathing, give artificial respiration, preferable mouth-to-mouth. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.
