Liquid Quaternary Ammonium Compound

* Purpose

 

SurfaSan is a concentrated, effective quaternary ammonium sanitizer and disinfectant for use on most hard, non-porous surfaces found in meat, poultry, seafood and vegetable operations. SurfaSan is useful in controlling  a wide range of bacteria.

 

* Typical Applications

 

SurfaSan is recommended for sanitizing and disinfectant applications in meat, poultry, seafood and vegetable processing operations, on equipment surfaces, floors, walls, or wherever microbial control is desired.  All recommended use concentrations of SurfaSan are able to be used on aluminum, brass, copper, plated steel, or stainless steel, as well as glazed tile,  porcelain, and painted surfaces. SurfaSan is effective using any water temperature for application. Application temperature is discretionary, dependent on a food facility’s needs for controlling condensation at the end of a sanitation shift, prior to immediate production start.

 

* Advantages

 

Effective in Hard Water – Destroys a wide spectrum of microorganisms typically found in meat, poultry and seafood processing operations in up to 500 ppm hard water (as CaCO3).

Will not harm most surfaces – Will not corrode or darken any surfaces when used as directed.

 

* Properties

 

SurfaSan is a clear liquid with a mild odor and foaming properties. SurfaSan is a neutral pH and has a Specific Gravity of 0.99 (8.25 lbs./gallon).

 

* Use Directions

 

Clean surfaces thoroughly with recommended LW Chemical products. Prepare a 400 ppm active quaternary solution using 2 oz. of SurfaSan in 4 gallons of water. Allow sanitizer solution to contact surfaces for a minimum of 2 minutes. Allow surfaces to drain thoroughly prior to start up.

Available in 5 gallon containers and 55 gallon plastic drums.

 

* Authorization

 

SurfaSan is able to be used in USDA inspected facilities.

Corrosive. Keep Out Of Reach Of Children. Causes eye and skin damage. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Wear goggles or face shield and rubber gloves when handling. Harmful or fatal if swallowed or absorbed through skin. Avoid contamination of food.

 

STATEMENT OF PRACTICAL TREATMENT.

 

In case of contact, immediately flush eyes or skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. For eyes, call a physician. Remove and wash contaminated clothing before reuse. If swallowed, drink promptly a large quantity of milk, egg whites, gelatin solution, or if these not available, drink large quantities of water. Avoid alcohol. Call a physician immediately.

 

NOTE TO PHYSICIAN: Probable mucosal damage may contraindicate the use of gastric lavage. Measures against circulatory shock, respiratory depression and convulsion may be needed.

 

STORAGE AND DISPOSAL:

 

DO NOT CONTAMINATE WATER, FOOD, OR FEED BY STORAGE OR DISPOSAL. OPEN DUMPING IS PROHIBITED. DO NOT REUSE EMPTY CONTAINER.

PESTICIDE DISPOSAL: Pesticides, spray mixture or rinse water that cannot be used according to label instructions must be disposed of according to Federal or approved State procedures under Subtitle C of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act.

 

CONTAINER DISPOSAL: Triple rinse. Then offer for recycling, or dispose of in a sanitary landfill, or by incineration if allowed by State and local authorities.

 

GENERAL CLASSIFICATION. It is a violation of Federal law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling.
