EGRITE
Granular Egg Wash Detergent
* Purpose
EGRITE is a highly concentrated product and removes a wide variety of soils and stains from shell eggs in pressure spray egg washing machine operations. Built-in defoamers suppress foam in wash tanks, thereby reducing downtime due to machine inefficiency.
* Typical Applications
EGRITE is designed for use in pressure spray washers in egg cleaning plants, particularly where heavily soiled eggs are encountered. All recommended use concentrations of Egrite are safe to use on aluminum, zinc, tin, brass, copper, steel, or stainless steel surfaces, as well as tile, brick, porcelain, and painted surfaces.
* Advantages
Highly Concentrated – High use dilutions enable low use costs.
Completely Built – No additives necessary under most conditions.
Stable Formula – Will not break down in storage or in use solution.
* Properties
EGRITE is a white, granular, free-flowing powder formulated with a blend of wetting agents, alkaline builders, corrosion inhibitors, water conditioners, and defoaming agents. A 1 oz./gallon solution will sequester 20 grains of water hardness.
* Use Directions
EGRITE should be used at the rate of 1/3 to 1 oz./gallon of wash water. The exact amount needed will depend upon the soil load, water hardness, and quantity of broken eggs. Wash only cool eggs. Do not re-use wash water. Avoid use of water containing trace levels of iron. Do not immerse eggs in cleaning solution for more than 5 minutes. Temperature of the wash solution should be between 90 F. and 115 F., and between 20-40 F. higher than the temperature of the eggs being washed. If the temperature difference is less than 20 F., there is a danger of egg contamination due to the soiled wash water. Too low of a temperature will also provide poor cleaning, and may cause excessive foam to be produced.
* Packaging
Available in 450 lb. drums.
* Authorization
EGRITE is authorized by the USDA for use under category code letter Q1:
Eggs that have been washed with these compounds shall be immediately subjected to a
thorough sanitizing or potable water rinse.
